Date : Sunday December 9th - 2 months old
Stats : Her two month pediatrician check up she weighed 11 lbs 8 oz. She has put on 3 pounds since her birth (not including the weight she lost and regained) She is 23.5" long. She received her first round of vaccines It was so sad! I went into the appointment knowing she would cry during the shots and that they are important for her to have so no biggy. BUT for some reason hearing her cry knowing she was in pain was a totally different feeling for me than when she cries when tired or hungry. It was so sad! I just wanted to scoop her up and kiss her little thighs. Luckily as soon as I could scoop her up she calmed down and took a nap. We go again for her 4 month visit
Clothes: She is fitting comfortably into most 3 months clothes. Onsies and Pjs fit pretty well. Her 3 months pants are still HUGE. Ive got to try and get a picture of her trying to wear them. She does fit into 3 months legging style pants. She has lots of warm fleecy or velour pants though that don't have any stretch and are just massive. Tunics are still pretty flowy on her but I suppose that's the look. I have been buying her more separates so that as she grows out of her onsies in the length she still has things to wear. I know if I tried to put a 6 month onsie on her it would be way too big all over.
Sleep: We are getting there. A few night a go she slept 3 nights in a row 5.5-6 hours straight. Then the next few days it was back to waking up every 3 hours. BUT we have had some learning moments for sure. The past two nights I haven't fed her when she has been waking up. When she got up in the middle of the night I just figured she was hungry. The past 2 nights I just have tried to soothe her back to sleep first. Usually when she wakes me up she is just fussing and has her eyes closed. Now she goes back to sleep pretty easy and may stir once or twice more but really not waking up. Then when she stirs around 7 I fed her. That means she is going 7-8 hours between feedings. Thats great news! (disclaimer. No I am not starving my child... I know my baby and would never not fed her if she was showing hunger signs... just saying : )SOOO now I realize that she can go longer stretches at night between feedings its just getting her to self soothe when she stirs at night. Right now If i just let her stir/coo etc. she eventually will work herself into waking up and crying. I just thought before that if she ever cried at night, and it had been at least 2.5 hours that she was just ready to eat again. So were working on our self soothing. I am taking each night as it comes and just trying to stay positive. A friend of mine mentioned that soon enough I will be wishing she was sleeping less so that I could have more time with her in the evenings. I will say I am sleeping in the guest bedroom now. I had a revelation of why the heck am I sleeping on the couch?? We have the pack n play in the living room so I just assumed ... so the bassinet and I are in the guest bed. It gives me a little more normalcy which is nice.
We have had many more firsts this month. Harper's first Christmas tree. She got to meet her cousin Colter. She got her first Christmas stocking hung. She went with me to target and hobby lobby. (had to show her the ropes on shopping for bargains)We celebrated her first thanksgiving. And she joined us for our sunday tradition of slices at Rosas pizza.
