Camping!

My birthday week came to a close after a great weekend, an amazing Rihanna concert and then camping with my girlfriends. I put up pictures on facebook but for those of you who haven't seen them. Here are a few of my favorites.

The big 2-9

I celebrates my birthday this weekend in the perfect way... low key, and with my family. Harper, Dutch and I went to Ihop for breakfast, walked at the river (a 3 mile trek that we have started doing on the weekends) and had dinner with my parents at Marlow's. Dutch let me sleep in on Sunday and bought me the prettiest hanging flower basket for our yard. We did some yard work and grilled out on the deck. It was a great weekend!

Enjoying spring around our yard!

First food!

I am sure this is terribly exciting to everyone but it is to us! Part of the fun of parenting is experiencing all of your child's firsts. Today we tried rice cereal. I hope to be able to make all of Harper's food homemade (for the most part) but for now we are starting with rice cereal from the store. We are trying this one - Happy Bellies Brown Rice Cereal

The jury is still out... but for the first time I think it went ok! We will try again tomorrow. The doctor advised us to wait 4 days to make sure she can tolerate it. We can quickly move on to sweet potato next.

6 months!

Date: Tuesday April 9th 2013

Stats: At her 6 months appointment she weighed 14lbs14oz (25%) and was 26.5" long (78%). She is still our tall skinny girl!

Clothes: She is wearing all 6 months clothes, and 3-6 months pants. She still can fit into 3 months onesies if needed but since all of her short sleeve tops are 6 months, she is rocking those right now. We are still in size 2 diapers.

Sleep: We are still not sleeping through the night but I've accepted it for now. Its been a rough 2 months but I am used to it now. She still goes to bed at 745 and is down for the night till 8am ish... but she eats at 11pm, 3am and 6am. (The 6am feeding is fixed as I feed her right before I leave for work) If she could just drop that 3 am feeding I would feel sooo much better. She is going to start eating food now so maybe that will help her stay full at night. I am now officially in the 1% of mothers who exclusively breastfeed there babies till 6 months. Wahoo! Feels great. I love those times we have together and that I am helping her grow!

Food: We just started cereal today... more on that in a later post.

This month we were really able to enjoy the outdoors. We took many walks, enjoyed grilling out on the deck, we even went down to the river for a long walk last Sunday  It was beautiful! We celebrated St. Patrick's day and Easter. We tried out our exercauser for the first time and Harper loves to bounce like crazy! She loves to sit and stand, supported, however she is able to sit unsupported for a few seconds. She then gets interested in something and wants to reach for it... making her topple over. So once she can realize how to balance herself and reach we will be golden. She loves talking/babbling/screaming for fun. She really entertains herself with her voice. Her latest sound has been a D... much to "dada's" enjoyment. She has learned the joys of throwing and dropping toys on the floor. She also is learning how peek a boo works. If she sees her paci she will grab it and put it in her mouth. We go through endless amounts of pacis when she is in her crib as she likes to drop them through the slats. Now when she goes down for a nap or nighttime we can watch her rolling and rotating all over the place. Sometimes we go in there and she is laying the opposite way or is sideways. I love seeing the joy on her face when I pull her shirt over her head. For some reason she loves that! She also loves kisses on her cheeks while I make loud puckering noises. She is very interested in everything/anything you have. She will stick her hand in your water cup, try to eat your banana   taste the foot of her teddy bear, etc. She still is mesmerized by teeth brushing.. maybe she will be a dentist? She is growing and developing every single day. Its just amazing. I may be a broken record but we just have so much love for her. I now understand why the Duggers have 21 kids!! Ok maybe not ...

Easter Celebrations

We had a great weekend full of Easter celebrations. Saturday we had dinner at my Dads to celebrate Easter and Chris' birthday. Sunday we had brunch with Dutch's family and then in the afternoon visited with my Mom and Grandma. It was a whirlwind but Harper was a trooper!

I'm in love with this picture!
