Christmas dresses

Harper had to have three Christmas dresses this year for all three of our celebrations. I just wanted to share the cuteness. We hope you all have had a great Holiday. Here's to a great 2013!

Christmas 2012

Whew! Our 4 Christmas celebrations are over. It is always such a whirlwind with our families this time of the year and it was even busier with a baby! Sunday we did presents and dinner with the Morgans. Monday I went to church with my family (Dutch stayed home with Harper as I wasn't ready to handle a baby in a quiet church) then we went to my moms house for presents and dinner. Tuesday we had our (Dutch, Harper and I) Christmas morning. Then Tuesday afternoon we were at my Dads for presents and Christmas dinner. It made for three very long days for the three of us. Harper was a trooper! I am thankful that I still have sometime before I go back to work in order to recover. I did wake up with a sore throat tuesday so hopefully that doesn't turn into something. Everyone tells me to "rest" or "sleep". I'm not sure of these words they are talking of : )

We were so blessed this year to celebrate Christmas with our daughter. Last year at this time we had just lost our pregnancy and were mourning that loss. This year we are holding our daughter tight. She is the best gift of all.

Enjoy a few pictures from our holidays.

2 months!

Date : Sunday December 9th - 2 months old

Stats : Her two month pediatrician check up she weighed 11 lbs 8 oz. She has put on 3 pounds since her birth (not including the weight she lost and regained) She is 23.5" long. She received her first round of vaccines  It was so sad! I went into the appointment knowing she would cry during the shots and that they are important for her to have so no biggy. BUT for some reason hearing her cry knowing she was in pain was a totally different feeling for me than when she cries when tired or hungry. It was so sad! I just wanted to scoop her up and kiss her little thighs. Luckily  as soon as I could scoop her up she calmed down and took a nap. We go again for her 4 month visit

Clothes: She is fitting comfortably into most 3 months clothes. Onsies and Pjs fit pretty well. Her 3 months pants are still HUGE. Ive got to try and get a picture of her trying to wear them. She does fit into 3 months legging style pants. She has lots of warm fleecy or velour pants though that don't have any stretch and are just massive. Tunics are still pretty flowy on her but I suppose that's the look. I have been buying her more separates so that as she grows out of her onsies in the length she still has things to wear. I know if I tried to put a 6 month onsie on her it would be way too big all over.

Sleep:  We are getting there. A few night a go she slept 3 nights in a row 5.5-6 hours straight. Then the next few days it was back to waking up every 3 hours. BUT we have had some learning moments for sure. The past two nights I haven't fed her when she has been waking up. When she got up in the middle of the night I just figured she was hungry. The past 2 nights I just have tried to soothe her back to sleep first. Usually when she wakes me up she is just fussing and has her eyes closed. Now she goes back to sleep pretty easy and may stir once or twice more but really not waking up. Then when she stirs around 7 I fed her. That means she is going 7-8 hours between feedings. Thats great news! (disclaimer. No I am not starving my child... I know my baby and would never  not fed her if she was showing hunger signs... just saying : )SOOO now I realize that she can go longer stretches at night between feedings its just getting her to self soothe when she stirs at night. Right now If i just let her stir/coo etc. she eventually will work herself into waking up and crying. I just thought before that if she ever cried at night, and it had been at least 2.5 hours that she was just ready to eat again. So were working on our self soothing. I am taking each night as it comes and just trying to stay positive. A friend of mine mentioned that soon enough I will be wishing she was sleeping less so that I could have more time with her in the evenings. I will say I am sleeping in the guest bedroom now. I had a revelation of why the heck am I sleeping on the couch?? We have the pack n play in the living room so I just assumed ... so the bassinet and I are in the guest bed. It gives me a little more normalcy which is nice.

We have had many more firsts this month. Harper's first Christmas tree. She got to meet her cousin Colter. She got her first Christmas stocking hung. She went with me to target and hobby lobby. (had to show her the ropes on shopping for bargains)We celebrated her first thanksgiving. And she joined us for our sunday tradition of slices at Rosas pizza.

Harper, you are mommy's perfect angel. I love the way you hold your sweet little hands while we cuddle on the couch. You are so alert! Your days are becoming more predictable which is easier on all of us. Mommy and Daddy are much more confident about taking you out and about with us. Daddy loves to push the stroller at Publix while I push the cart. You love to give daddy the biggest smile every morning when he comes to say bye before work. I know it melts his heart. Thanks for doing that for him. You smile at everyone now! You always smiled at momma but at 6 weeks you were happy to show it off to everyone. Your head is getting less heavy for you and we keep practicing our tummy time. You love to watch your blue elephant overhead. Thanks for putting up with all the photoshoots... they will be less often... maybe. Your 2nd month with us was full of love. You are growing up so fast. Slow down! I will be going back to work after your 3rd month so lets try to enjoy all the snuggles , kisses, and smiles we can.

Family photos

A friend and coworker of mine is a family photographer. Check her out at http://www.mflemingphotography.com/home.html

She offered to come take photos of Dutch, Harper and I and I just had to take her up on the offer. Being a photographer myself I never get "good" photos of myself and really had only a few of Harper and I. Hopefully as Harper grows up Meredith will be able to take some more family photos of us. I just cherish them. Here they are for you to enjoy.

Weeks 5-8

For those of you who have asked, I am trying to upload Harper's weekly photos every 4 weeks. Its just easier for me to manage editing the photos and getting them on the blog in a batch. I think its also fun to see them grouped together and see how she is changing.

Enjoy!

Picture update!

Just a few pictures to share of what we have been up to. I hardly have time to get photos of my computer these days let alone write fun blog posts about everythinig we do. So, I will let the pictures do the talking! Enjoy!
