The River Park

Dutch and I have been spending much of the past few weekends at the river park. Our closest national park runs right through Atlanta. The Chattahoochee river has so many different recreational options. We chose to "whitewater raft" , I use that term loosely, the river the past two weekends. There are some "rapids" but mostly it is a great way to enjoy nature, the beautiful river and trees, wildlife, the sun, and each other. It has kinda brought out a new excitement in us about ideas of things to do together that don't require money. For so long it seemed like we sat on the couch and watched TV because everything "costs money".

We even discovered a "river beach". An alcove off the river that has a large shallow pool and a rocky river beach. It has access from a parking lot so you can drive right up and not have to hike/lug your stuff along a path. We took the girls out there last Monday and had the entire place to ourselves. It was so quiet we couldn't believe we were so close to the city and highways. It really feels like an escape into the mountains which we love. My camera died (booo, no pics of the girls/river) that day, but we will be back soon to get some awesome pics. For now, enjoy some of us out on the river!
